This week in science #15

This week in science we did a lot. For example, I did the "Marshmallow Challenge". The "Marshmallow Challenge" was interesting. We did it once with out talking but we had 20minutes. We did again this time with 16minutes but we were allowed to talk. We built our tower 67cenimeters the first time and the second about 50cenimeters. Another thing we did was our "This year in science 10th grade introduction". I made two videos talking about how I feel about science.
My team and I trying different ideas.

I'm building the foundation.

Looking at others projects to get some ideas.
This week in science I learned a couple of things. For example, I learned that sometimes speaking gets people distracted from a task. I learned this from the "Marshmallow Challenge". I also learned that science is more interesting when it's hands on.

I believe I work better in groups now. I communicate better. Even though the first challenge our tower was taller, we tried only one way to build it. This time e expressed different ideas and tried them out. I am now more open to other peoples ideas now, because of the "Marshmallow Challenge".

This week in science #14

This week in science we did a lot. For example, we explained what every letter stood for in the "HIPPO" dilemma. We also read an article on the "HIPPO" dilemma. We also read an article on renewable and non renewable resources. Another thing we did was food chains. The last thing we did was make a poster for oil, a non renewable resource. We then had to present it in front of the class.

This week in science #9

The male skate is on the left and the female is on the right.
This week in science we did a lot. For example, we observed and dissected animals. I happened to get a skate. We had to verify if our skate was a male or female. Ours was a male but we dissected a female skate. When we cut the animal open we had to take out parts like the liver and stomach. After that we had to take pictures of the organs and dissected animal and label them. Then we had to answers questions about the skate ad the experience we had dissecting it.                                                                                         This week in science I've learned man things. For example, I learned that the skate is related to sharks and sting rays. I also learned that you can identify a skate by the shape of its head. The male skate has a more defined head than the female. Another thing I learned is how to dissect animals. I also learned how o use a scalpel.

This is my spiders habitat. You can see what goes into the flower and what goes out.

This week in science #12

This week in science we did many things. For example, we created an environment for our cellar spider. We also made a booklet for our spider and words dealing with relationships between animals.
Another thing we did was take a regents quiz for the information we learned. One thing Mathew did was draw our spider habitat in his booklet.
This week in science we learned a lot of things. For example, I learned about biotic and a biotic factors. I also learned about heterotrophs and mutalism. One last thing we learned was about food chains and pyramids. One thing Mathew learned is what cellar spiders eat.

This week in science #11

This week in science I wrote questions to posters I saw in class. I drew pictures and wrote what we thought of the posters. I also went to the park to collect supplies for my spiders environment. The next day I drew everything inside of my tank. This week in science Zayra and Corine did research about the cellar spider.
This week in science I noticed that most posters used pictures more than words. I also noticed that the water cycle had the most pictures. The carbon cycle also had the least posters. When I went to the park I notice you had to dig deep in the dirt ti find the earthworms. I also noticed the pebbles in my tank blended into the rocks. Zayra learned that the cellar spider eats its own babies. Corine learned about NewYork's ecosystem.
